Time is part of our life. We count the days, months, years and centuries. We run after time. We have time or no time. Sometimes we wish for more time to sleep, to work or to pray. October Month was full of meaningful events in line with our missionary charism. Many of our communities organized their meetings of the Comboni friends. The Comboni missionaries present in Pietermaritzburg celebrated the gift of Saint Daniel Comboni together with the parishioners of Saint Joan of Arc and the Comboni friends of the area around Pietermaritzburg. The Comboni Missionaries take to heart their commitment to promote vocations to priesthood and consecrated and missionary life, wherever they are. The vocation promoter, Bro. Francis Padovan, is in touch with many young people in the whole country and invites them for different workshops through the year in order to help them to see clearer the plan of God.

Saint Daniel Comboni, from whom the Comboni Missionaries take their name, had a life marked by a passion for Africa. He was born at Limone, on Lake Garda in northern Italy on 15 March 1831 and died at Khartoum, Sudan on 10 October 1881. He was canonised on the 5th October 2003.
