In the footsteps of Comboni against human trafficking. On Saturday 25th July, Sr. Clara Torres, Comboni Sister in Mamelodi, and Fr. Günther Hofmann, Mission Promoter in Pretoria, were giving their input at the Youth Rally in Shorty, one of the distant rural communities in Acornhoek Parish, Diocese of Witbank. After a social worker had addressed the 60 youth
and some adult supporters about the rights of the children, Sr. Clara spoke about her awareness group “Without chains”, for the end of slavery.
She made us aware of the danger of human trafficking especially for people from rural areas who are searching for job opportunities. Fr. Günther asked everyone to be a committed missionary minded catholic as Pope Francis encourages us to live the joy of our faith in Jesus wherever we are at home, at work, in our Parish and even to consider our missionary calling to go beyond our parishes to share our faith with the poor of this world.
On Sunday we met the communities of Maromeni, Buffelshoek and Hoedspruit for Sunday Mass and we gave our missionary testimony.
Fr. Günther asked everyone to pray for the mission of the Church and to support the Worldwide Magazine of the MCCJ by subscribing to it.
