Pentecost 1

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.”(Acts 2:4).
The day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit comes as a “strong wind” that fills the house where the apostles and Mary and other 120 people are gathered in prayer:
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.”(Acts 2:1-4).

Pentecost

Today the Holy Spirit is outpoured into the life of the Church, the Society and each individual. It is important to open the eyes to the “mighty works of God” in creation and the lives of people.

The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Advocate, the Spirit of Truth is in us, around us, above us. He makes his dwelling place in each human being that is opened to receive him: “don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you?” (1 Corinthians 6:19)

We pray with the Church:

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
and in our souls take up Your rest;
come with Your graceand heavenly aid
to fill the hearts which You have made.

O comforter, to You we cry,
O heavenly gift ofGodMost High,
O fount oflifeand fire of love,
and sweet anointing from above.

Kindle our sense from above,
and make our hearts overflow with love;
with patience firm andvirtuehigh
the weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
and grant us Thy peace instead;
so shall we not, with Thee for guide,
turn from the path oflifeaside. ...
